Yesterday in Wayland

•Wendy Lynn has been honored as a Presidential Scholar at the American Institute of Business. She is the daughter of Carolyn Christner of Wayland. Wendy and her husband David live in Des Moines.

•Saleum and Trudy Brown, Wayland, are the parents of a daughter, Samiyyah Edith, their first child, on Feb. 13, 1994.

•Mr. and Mrs. Gary Fenton, along with their children, Mindi, LaMar, Joy, Gwen, and Heidi, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a celebration on March 12, 1994.

1999

•The Wayland Fire and Rescue squad was called to Agri Way Feed on Feb. 23 for a corn bin fire.

•Mrs. Ron Roth and granddaughter Alexa Walker spent the weekend in the Steve Goss home, Overland Park, Kansas, and helped grandson Ethan Goss celebrate his fifth birthday.

•Roger and Rachel Wyse have returned to their home after spending several winter months in Phoenix, Arizona.

2004

•Velma Rich, age 100, of Mt. Pleasant died Feb. 27, 2004.

•Lindsey Loyd is a member of the University of Iowa Latin Jazz Ensemble.

2009

•Gary and Kathy Crawford of Mt. Pleasant and Sheldon and Lori Miller of Wayland are proud to announce the engagement of their children, Jami Crawford and Jeremy Miller.

•Amanda Jepson, a senior at Cornell College, has been elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

•Named to Kirkwood Community College Dean’s List for the Fall 2008 semester from Wayland were Breann Barnett, Sheila Evans, Jenny Pfeifer, and Barbi Roth.

2014

•Named to the SEISC Boys Basketball teams for the 2013-2014 season from Wayland were (second team) Dylan Carlson, (honorable mention) Tucker Janecek and Braden Blake.
