•Robert and Linda Wenger will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 27, 2014 with an open house hosted by their children at Bethel Church.
2004
•Wayland Economic Development Corporation sponsored their fourth annual business appreciation dinner April 1, 2004. New businesses recognized were Tim Egli, Egli Landscaping; Deb Blevins, Personal Form fitness center for women; and Michelle Crawford, Fingers & Toes, Etc.
•Delmer and Sharon Wagler celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on April 5, 2004. They are the parents of four children: Kevin and Joan Wagler, Larry and Carmen Harris, Kim and LaMar Fenton, and Curtis and Lori Wagler; and 10 grandchildren.
•Named to the Dean’s List at Central College in Pella from Wayland were Emily Davey and Darla Messer.
1999
•Linda Boshart was honored by the Iowa House for her outstanding service as a teacher at WACO Elementary and as and instructor at Iowa Wesleyan College.
•Priscilla Clemens of Cincinnati, Ohio, along with her son, Alex and friend Jacob Leichty, visited in the Roger Wyse home the weekend of March 27.
•Easter visitors in the Robert and Mildred Freyenberger home were their daughter June of Coralville, along with her friend LaVonne Voss and the Freyenberger’s granddaughter, Christine Stutzman and son Jory of Fairfield.
1994
•The WACO drama and music department will be presenting Annie Get Your Gun on Friday, April 8, and Saturday, April 9, 1994. The play stars Rebecca Mullikin as Annie and Tony Hooper as Frank.
•Natural gas bills for City of Wayland customers will reflect an increase of $.50 per 1000 cubic feet of gas used and a $.50 increase in the meter charge beginning with the May bill. Previous gas was billed at $4.50/1000 cubic feet and a $5.00 meter charge.
•The Wayland Fire Department battled a grass fire south of the Larry Leichty home; and were called by Brighton Mutual Aid to the Gordon Seaba farm after a controlled burn was pushed by high winds, igniting a barn.
