•Ruth Miller turned 90 years old on April 16, 2014. She celebrated with her family.
•Marchell “Marty” McNevin, age 53, died peacefully, April 13, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
•Sandy (Rich) Hasler of Craig, Colorado has returned home after spending two weeks with her mother, Mary Rich, and visiting friends and relatives.
2009
•Ray Fear, a junior at WACO High School, will be attending Hawkeye Boys State at Camp Dodge in June.
•Seth K. Unruh, son of Lowell and Pamela Unruh of Wayland, will receive a bachelor’s degree from Goshen College, in Goshen, Indiana.
•Katy Garrett has been honored as a Presidential Scholar at AIB College of Business for the 2008 Winter Term.
2004
•Roger and Nancy Hill hosted an Easter Brunch on April 11. Sharing in the celebration were Bill and Mary Wintermeyer, Ronna and Charle Lorenson, Ed, Kathy and Will Wintermeyer, Kathy and Nathan Hay, and Chris K. Hill.
•Derek and Stephanie Bachman of Washington are the parents of a baby girl, Jorden Marie, born April 11, 2004. Area grandparents are Doyle and Irene Bachman of Wayland.
•Army Spec. Aaron J. Goff has graduated from the U.S. Army Ranger School at fort Benning, Columbus, Georgia, with authorization to wear the distinctive Ranger Tab. Goff was a 2001 graduate of WACO.
1999
•Dallas Leichty, age 56, was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident on April 19, 1999.
•Longtime Wayland News employee, Waunita Kauffman Magdefrau, passed away at Sunrise Terrace Care Center, Winfield, on April 19, 1999, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
•Mabel Roth celebrated her 95th birthday on April 15. She was joined by Bernice Roth and Evelyn Garrett for dinner.
1994
•Edward Buelna, age 36, of Wayland, received injuries when the 1983 Mercury Lynx he was driving on the gravel near the Ray Wyse farm entered the ditch, went through a fence, and lodged around a tree.
•The Wayland Fire Department was called to the Glen Nebel farm when a controlled burn rekindled.
•Michael T. Groff was honored at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on March 27, 1994. His Eagle Scout project was bird houses which have been placed in Central Park, at Parkview Home, and at Bomber Ball Field.
