Yesterday in Wayland

•The benefit held April 26 for Ben Creamer was a great success. Eicher Mennonite Church served a delicious lasagna supper, and there were over 30 baskets and items available at the silent auction.

•The second Germanville Walnut #5 country school reunion was held April 12.

•Harold Steele was an Easter dinner guest in the home of Doug and Carol Steele of Crawfordsville.

2009

•Wayland native, Staff Sgt. Matthew L. Manning, Fuels Preventative Maintenance Supervisor, Beale AFB was one of 28 nominees Air Combat Command honored from across the command during its ACC Outstanding Airmen of the Year celebration.

•The Back to the 50s and 60s cruise night dates have been confirmed — two of the dates are July 25 and Sept. 12 in Wayland.

2004

•Claire Overton of Wayland was chosen by Crawfordsville American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State.

•SPC Ryan Donkersloot, 1997 WACO graduate, returned home from Iraq on April 20. He is a member of the 109th Medical Battalion, National Guard based in Iowa City.

•John and Stacy (Anderson) Peterman are the proud parents of a baby boy. Matthew Paul was born April 16, 2004.

•Judy Hueholt joined the Breacon/News staff at the Wayland office.

•Steve and Pam Roth are the proud parents of a baby boy. Jared Dallas was born April 26, 1999.

•Fire destroyed a barn at the John Pacha farm north of Coppock.

•Igor and Cheryl (Taglauer) Morozov are parents of twins. Daughter, Alexandra Igorovna, and son, Timothy Igorovich, were born April 28.

•Ollie L. Hochstetler, age 83, died April 26 at Kalona.

•Sharon Kay Lorack and Anthony Wayne Phillips will be married May 28 at the United Church of Christ in Olds.

•Robert and Vickie (Roth) Achen are the proud parents of a baby boy. Jared Matthew was born April 24.

•Steve and Charlene (Grothe) Geigerich are parents of a baby boy. Jonathan August was born April 14 at Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.

•Lindsey Marie was born April 20 to Paul and Cathy (Davison) Whitham.
