Yesterday in Wayland

Larry and Royce Roth spoke at Parkview Home on Friday, June 27. They gave a history of milk and their dairy. They also talked about the Wayland Creamery, which made over 300,000 lbs. of butter a year and sent it to New York.

Judy Hueholt, manager of the Wayland News office in Wayland, was honored June 24, 2014, for 15 years of service to her office. She has retired and will be greatly missed.

2009

Gene and Darla Messer have announced the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter, Natalie Nicole, to Ryan Patrick Duffie, son of Lenus and Barb Duffie of Illinois.

Janie Meyer, age 64, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Wayland, died July 3, 2009, at Mercy Hospitals in Cedar Rapids.

Molly Elizabeth McCright of Cedar Rapids and Mark Andrew Jones of Wayland have announced their upcoming Aug. 7, 2004, wedding.

Robyn Wood and Michael Groff have announced their upcoming July 24, 2004, wedding. Mike is a 1994 WACO graduate.

Mr. and Mrs. George Gershe will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Rick and Lori Rodgers are the parents of a new baby girl. Haley Ann was born July 1, 1999.

Danielle Alise Sterba and Brandon Lee Imhoff were married June 5.

Heidi Renee Draper and Bradley Joey Huyser have announced their engagement.

Jim and Waunita Magdefrau are the Grand Marshalls for the Wayland Fourth of July parade.

Eva Edith (Neff) Garrett will celebrate her 80th birthday.

Esther Ruth Richardson, age 91, of Crawfordsville, died June 29, 1994.

1989

Iowa City Air Care helicopter was featured at Wayland’s Fourth of July celebration. The pilot was Don Crowl of Wayland.

A memorial service was held for Edna and Emery Eigsti. Edna Ruth Wenger Eigsti, age 86, died June 30, and Emery Irvin died May 31.

Jodi Messer was named WACO’s recipient of the Hugh O’Brian Youth Foundation Award for 1989.

Randell H. Christner, age 24, died July 9 from injuries suffered in a motorcycle-semi accident.

Donald Kauffman fell from a ladder wile working on his cabin at Lake Ruthbun.

Earnest W. McFarland, age 89, died June 27.

Elizabeth A. Coble received the Dept. of Army Superior Cadet Decoration.

Cecil and Lavine (Christner) Riley celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Lisa Marie Woodsmall and Scott Lee Upton were wed June 9.
