Megan Fort and Mike Ineichen are excited to announce their engagement and approaching marriage. Megan is the daughter of Kevin and Sheila Fort of Wayland.

Thelma Bernice Farrier, age 87, of Wayland died July 17, 2009, at Mercy Hospital Hospice Center in Iowa City following an extended illness.

Klinton Garrett received blue ribbon for his bucket calf at the Henry County Fair.

Warren Dean Jennings, age 83, died July 18.

H. Michael Jones, age 23, of Morning Sun, died July 16.

Ted and Duane Roth, sons of Max and Bernice Roth, were honored for their work with the San Diego Chapter of National Multiple Sclerosis.

Jack and Margaret Quigley are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.

Willard and Hettie Conrad will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

1994

July 17 Open House honored Waunita Magdefrau for 36 years as a city employee. Over 180 guests helped her celebrate her retirement.

Don and Eldora Boshart hosted a July 22 dinner to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.

Josh Stauffer, of Wayland, showed Henry County Fair Champion heavyweight Steer and Reserve Champion overall beef steer.

1989

A five-car accident on 218 caused injuries to local residents Lois J. Jones and her six-year-old son, Mark; Larry B. Kaufman; Donald R. Peterson; Robert D. Lee; Douglas R. Miller; and Dwight R. Alvine. Others involved in the accident were from Fairfield and Springfield. Heavy rain was blamed for the accident.

Marion and Darlene Conner are parents of a baby girl. Cassandra Rae was born July 9.

1984

Mr. and Mrs. Tony Graber are parents of a girl. Brittany Adair was born July 17, 1984.

Vera Mae Totemeir, age 87, died July 24 at Morning Sun.

Roy Black received work of the death of his brother, Carl Black of Fairfield, on July 21.
