Graduating from Kirkwood Community College from Wayland were Lee Hallett, Diploma Nursing; Summer Erana Leichty, Diploma Office Assistant; Robert Schoolen, AA in Management.
Heather and Ryan Meyer announce the birth of their baby daughter, Adalyn Marie Meyer was born June 9, 2009. She is welcomed home by older brothers, Brodie and Kyler.
WACO senior Lucas Robison was named to the North Team All-Southeast Iowa Superconference Baseball first team. Sophomore Jordan Vradenburg earned honorable mention.

Outgoing Wayland Lions Club president Robert Meyer passed the gavel to incoming president Laverne Hueholt at the July 20 meeting.
Cindy Richenberger of Cedar Rapids picked up her mother, Geraldine Rixe, Friday morning and left for Mount Prospect, Illinois to visit the Mike Richenberger family. They spent Saturday at the German Fest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Cindy and Geraldine returned to Iowa on Sunday.

Jeffrey Scott “Cookie” Brooks, age 32, died July 27 as a result of an auto accident north of Olds.
Sadie Johnson, age 95, died Aug. 2 at Sunrise Care Center.

Brian and Kathy (Davis) Shelman are the parents of a baby boy. Brant Christian was born July 26.
Kenneth and Bea Hesser were honored for their 40th wedding anniversary with an open house on July 9.
Josh Stauffer showed reserve grand champion market steer and Matt McGuire had grand champion rate of gain lamb at the Henry County Fair.

Harold VanSyoc was recognized at the Henry County Fair livestock auction for his many years of service to the Fair Auction.
Rev Murray and Alta Krabill will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.

Dorothy D. Bain, age 34, died July 25 at her home in rural Wayland.
Jack and Margaret Quigley will celebrate their silver anniversary on August 1.
Denise J. Wasson and James W. Freyenberger were married June 23 in Moline.
