Joyce Conrad, age 84, died Aug. 10, 2014 at the Parkview Home in Wayland.
2009
Donald Davison of rural Wayland will be inducted into the 2009 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair on August 23.
Approximately 20 tractors from the Wayland Area Antique Tractor Club gathered Aug. 6 for their annual trek to Hamilton, Illinois and the Western Illinois Settlers Reunion.

Joseph and Barbara Roth had a family reunion on July 25. Fifty-one relatives attended.
Denise Nebel earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree.
Angela Neff and Kenny Kempf of Wayland have announced their engagement and forthcoming wedding on October 23.

Donald Whalen, age 12, Crawfordsville, has advanced to the preliminary rounds of Bill Riley’s 40th annual Iowa State Fair Talent Sprouts program and will present a piano performance during the fair.
Janet L. (Wittmer) Hemm, age 67, died Aug. 7 at the Burlington Medical Center.

Doug and Donna Roth are parents of a baby girl. Madison Marie was born Aug. 10, 1994.
Margaret Maxwell, age 57, died Aug. 5 at Kavanaugh House in Des Moines.
Two red maple trees, in memory of the late William Bean, were dedicated at the kickoff day of the WACO Lighting Project. The trees were planted south of the baseball field.

Elicia Manning placed in the top 20 in the Miss Iowa American Princess Pageant held in Cedar Rapids.
Norman Boshart was elected president of the new Wayland Area Antique Tractor Club.
Pamela Sue Fletcher and Steven Robert Green were married July 8.

Pam Schrock will compete for the title of Miss Teen of Iowa in the state pageant.
Tina Ione Howard escaped injury when the car she was driving rounded a curve and lost control, going through a fence and overturning, landing on its top.
Ed and Wendy Miller were honored at Sugar Creek on their silver anniversary.
