50 years ago — April, 1973
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Meyer entertained family members, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Fish of Bedford, Indiana; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Manchester of Libertyville; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Meyer and family of Mt. Pleasant; at dinner Wednesday evening at the Iris Restaurant. Mr. and Mrs. Fish left Thursday morning for their home, concluding a several days visit in the parental Meyer home.
Sunday dinner guests in the home of Mrs. Addie Davison were Mr. and Mrs. Dean Davison and family of New London, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Davison and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Davison and family of Washington.
Mrs. Roy Barton was an overnight guest Saturday in the Willis Hildebrand home. Mr. and Mrs. Hildebrand and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Rich met their mother at the Cedar Rapids airport, Saturday, upon her return from LaCanada, California, where she had spent a period of time in the home of another daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Eustice.

Artist of the Month at the Stoerm Cellar gallery, Anita Swartzendruber, Wayland, will show her collection and speak of her journey expressing her life through art in a 10:30 a.m. program Saturday, April 11 at the gallery in Burlington. The artist explains that her art shows her love of nature, color, forms and life, as well as the discovery of putting light into her work. Anita resides with her husband, John, near Wayland. Painting has always been a part of her life, recording the beauty and everyday events of the area. She recently traveled to Russia, New York, Mexico, and Nicaragua, using drama and art as teaching tools. The public is invited to the Saturday program and to view Swartzendruber’s works.
Russell Yoder, Wayland, has been named to the honor roll at American Institute of Business for the 1997 winter quarter. Yoder is the son of Don and Kathy Yoder. He is majoring in Business Administration. I addition to his studies, Yoder is a member of the activities committee.
The children of Don and Mary Rich would like to invite you to their 50th wedding anniversary celebration on April 19, 1998 at the Wayland Community Building. Don Rich and Mary Statler were married April 11, 1948 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. They are the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Sandra (James) Hasler and Mrs. Joan (David) Rodgers. They have four grandsons, Robert S. Wells; and Justin, Tyler, and Craig Rodgers.
