2004
Darlene Mann recently returned from Deep Haven, Minnesota, where she visited her granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Carlson. While there she attended the Baptismal Service for her four-month-old great-granddaughter, Helena Kate Carlson.
Milan Cedric Roth, age 47, died unexpectedly Aug. 28, 2004, at the Henry County Health Center.
1999
The Double “A” Club, owned by Deb White, is another new business venture in town. Doors opened February 1999 as a family recreation center and later they decided to go to a sports bar and pool hall. Business has steadily increased.
Stacy Renee Peterson of Wayland graduated from the University of Iowa with a Master of Art Teaching, English Education.
Rebecca Mullikin recently graduated from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education.
Alie and Barbara Eichelberger spent the weekend of Aug. 20 in Kansas visiting Lynn and Lorie Eichelberger at Pomona; and then Tom, Sharlene, Paul, and Marianne Eichelberger, and Roger and LouAnn Eichelberger in Wichita.

Harold H. and Helen L. Lynn will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary Sept. 11, 1994 at the Wayland Community Building. The reception will be hosted by their sons, Ronald Elmore and family and John H. Lynn and family.
Mark Bean of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, spent several days with his mother, Fran Bean, and roofed her home while he was here.
Ralph and Eleanor Draper had a pleasant surprise when Knute and Lillian Orton, missionaries with Baptist Mid-Missions in Central African Republic, stopped by for a visit. The Drapers and Ortons attended the same Bible School in Omaha.
Dillon and Myndell Boshart returned Aug. 24 from a 19-day California Redwood bus tour.
Freda Aldrich returned home from Davenport where she spent 10 days housesitting in the home of her daughter, Donna Bushek. Mrs. Bushek had given her son David a cruise package as a college graduation gift and during this 10-day time period, David and fiancee, Kim Breda, and Mrs. Bushek, spent on a Caribbean Cruise.

Tricia Brooks and Ken Stirm announce their engagement and are planning an October 21 wedding at the Wayland Mennonite Church.
Mark and Susan Yutzy of Wayland, became the parents of a son, Conrad James, on Aug. 24, 1989. He was welcomed home by two sister, Colette and Brittany, and one brother, Travis.
Kerri Alvine, six-year-old daughter of Dwain and Chrysta Alvie, placed first with her gymnastics routine in the talent contest for children up to the age of 12 at the Salem Old Settlers Day, August 26.
Melodie Ann Unternahrer and Glen Paul Winkler were wed July 19, 1989, at the Bethel Mennonite Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Richard, Mr. and Mrs. Berry Leichty, Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Slagel, and Mr. and Mrs. JB Magdefrau attended a customer meeting for America Natural Resources Pipeline Company customers Aug. 21-23 at the Four Seasons, Lake of the Ozarks.
Carl Sandberg was a Sunday dinner guest in the Virgil Johnson home. Saturday, he visited the Florian Sandbergs.
Mayme Diers had Nelson and Melvine Graham, Mabel Conrad, Dallas Millers, and Bev Elmore and children as recent visitors.
Hazel Wikoff had Sunday brunch in the Tom Pacha home in honor of Julie’s sixth birthday. Ice cream and cake were served in the afternoon. Nina Starr and Ethel Hanzie were her callers.
Don and Karen Neff traveled to Independence, Missouri to visit and help their grandson Jerry Keith Loveland celebrate his first birthday in they home of his parents, Steve and Julia Loveland, on Aug. 17 and 18.
