Robert and Doris Nelson of Wayland, and Frank and Patricia Rottinghaus of Charles City, have announced the engagement of Elizabeth Rottinghaus and Rustin Nelson.
Dawn R. Howard has been named to the Kirkwood Community College Dean’s List for the 2009 summer semester.
2004
Heitshusen Cattle Co. once again dominated in the Herford Show at the Iowa State Fair. They exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Bull. They also bred the cow-calf Grand Champion that was exhibited by Seth Meyers of Williamsburg.
Derald Edwards, age 82, of Wayland died Sept. 1, 2004, at his home after a brief illness.

Gary and Carol Mast and their grandson, Devon Carr, spent the past week with Gary’s parents, JoHenry and Lucille Mast.
Orion and Anna Mae (Graber) Huffer of Ames spent last Thursday and Friday in the Lois and Glen Nebel home.
Dean and Doris Meyer and Roger and Rachel Wyse of Wayland attended the dedication for the addition to the Pulaski Mennonite Church in Pulaski over the Labor Day weekend.

Dillon F. Boshart, age 77, a lifetime resident of the Wayland Community passed away Sept. 5, 1994, at the University of Iowa Hospital.
1989
Lois Graber returned from South Fallsburg, New York, where she spent the week with her daughter, Marilyn.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Boshart returned home from Columbia, Missouri and the home of their son Ed and Loretta Boshart, Stephen and Sarah. They had spent Labor Day weekend in Columbia and Mr. Boshart remained the past week as Loretta was hospitalized.
Allen Early and Brenda, Harrisonburg, Virginia, were recent visitors of Brenda’s grandfather, Levi Roth, and other relatives.
House guests in the James Stoops home for a 12-day visit were Mr. Stoops’ nephew, John and Sheri Tiner, Sacramento, California.
