A memorial service for Keith L. Nebel, age 54, of Wayland was held Oct. 8, 2014, at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.
Wayland’s current claim to fame is that Alfonso Ribeiro, contestant on Dancing with the Stars, is married to a WACO graduate, Angela Unkrich. She is the daughter of Stan and Valerie Unkrich.

Taylor Reschly, daughter of Mike and Cindy Reschly of Olds, and Matt Mitchell, son of John and Jean Mitchell of Wayland, were crowned WACO’s 2009 Homecoming Queen and King.

2004 WACO Homecoming Queen is Becca Leichty, daughter of Deb and Wilbur Leichty.
Named to Kirkwood Community College Dean’s List for the 2004 summer term was Matthew J. Slagel of Wayland and William Fried of Olds.
Kandace Hudson of Crawfordsville is stage manager of the Central College production of Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure. Kandace is a graduate of WACO High School.

Tim Hooper, Wayland State Bank Ag Loan Officer, was named to the Iowa Bankers Association’s Agriculture Committee.

David Pomeroy of Pomeroy Training and Consulting has joined Copperfield Chimney Supply, Inc. as vice president of Sales and Service.
Mary Rockwell was honored by the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Iowa at a luncheon in Des Moines.
Neil and Martha Roth were honored at an open house on Sept. 18 for their golden wedding anniversary.

Linda Hauenstein and Milan Roth exchanged marriage vows Oct. 5 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Firemen answered a call to the Oliver Yutzy home on Brooks Street where an electrical meter on the outside of the house had arched causing an electrical short. No damage was done to the house.
