Terry Rodgers, boys’ assistant basketball coach, was honored for 20 years of service at WACO by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association.
A memorial fund has been established in the name of Keith Nebel, WACO Junior High Football coach, who passed away suddenly Oct. 3. The funds will be used to purchase play clocks for the football field.
Air Force Airman Tyler S. Howard graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Howard is the son of Jamie S. Howard of Wayland, and Heather A. Schenk of Washington.

Morgan Roth of WACO qualified for the State Cross Country Meet. She finished eighth in the state qualifying meet with a time of 17:29.

Dean and Doris Meyer have returned home from a trip out west.
Jessica Messer of Wayland participated in women’s volleyball for the fall season at Coe College. She is the daughter of Gary and Lori Messer.
Rev. Richard Dunn, age 62, of West Chester, died Oct. 23 in Iowa City. He was a minister in Wayland.

Jalaine Grieser and Paul Fishell were married July 17 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Kelly and Reed Hartzler are the parents of a baby girl. Anna Mae was born Oct. 29.

Landon Roth was named Hardee’s Athlete of the Week and KCRG’s Prep of the Week.
Ashley Dawn Stagner was born Oct. 27 to Andy and Cheryl Stagner of Olds.
Harold Boese lost fingers on his left hand in a corn combine accident.
Members of Sugar Creek Mennonite Disaster Service rebuilt a barn at the Harold Miller farm. Also assisting was F&M Telephone Co. and Steve Kauffman Painting with equipment.

John H. “Jack” Groff, age 81, died Oct. 29 at Parkview Manor in Wellman.

Jerry and Helen Wilson are the proud parents of a third son, Timothy Lee was born Oct. 16.
Henry Leichty was honored for his 86th birthday with a dinner on Oct. 21.
Erin Roth was selected as a member of the 1984 All-State Orchestra.
1974
Wayland Volunteer Firemen were called to the Dallas Rediger farm to extinguish a fire of undetermined origin in a cornfield; and to a farm southwest of town owned by Jerry Tyre and farmed by Gary Clark, when fire destroyed a vacant house and barn-type building.
