Clarence and Dorothy Wenger are celebrating 70 years of marriage. They were married Dec. 25, 1944, at the bride’s home in Trenton. Their children are Carol (Ed V.) Miller of Kalona, Don (Candy) Wenger of California, Jane (Gary) DeYarman of California, Darla (Gene) Messer of Wayland, and Susan (Mark) Yutzy of Wayland.
Max Wyse of rural Wayland celebrated his 90th birthday on Nov. 29 with his immediate family.

Yvonne (Bonnie) Edwards, age 82, of Wayland, died Dec. 10, 2009, following a short illness.

WACO Drill Team competed at state and came away with a Division I rating.
Wendall and Dorothy Helphrey celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 12.
Mark and Terry Beauchamp celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Nov. 10.
1999
Christmas ornaments made by Mrs. Robert L. Yoder, Dale Garrett and Susan Mast of Wayland, and June Talbott of Mt. Union were displayed on trees in the Governor’s Office. This was in response to request for Iowans to make holiday ornaments for the Governor’s Office.
Wayland State Bank presented a check for $2500 to Parkview Home.

JB Magdefrau was honored for 50 years of membership by Adoniram Lodge #120 A.F.&A.M. at the Wayland Masonic Temple on Dec. 10.

Sharon Johnson and Dan Haws were married Nov. 24 at the Lutheran Church in Swedesburg.
