2015
A three-vehicle accident on Wayland Road sent one person to the hospital. According to the accident report, Nicholas Dittrich, of Washington, was traveling northbound on W55 when he collided with Conrad Yutzy of Kalona. Yutzy lost control and crossed the center line due to snow and ice on the roadway. Another vehicle driven by Aaron Blodgett of Washington collided with Dittrich’s vehicle.

WACO boys’ basketball team had their first loss of the season, falling to Central Lee 61-48.

Richard Arbogast and Shannon Gier are the parents of a baby girl. Sydney Renea was born Jan. 7 in Washington.
Brian and Cindy Mueller are the parents of a baby boy. Alex William was born Jan. 16.

Firemen were called to Leo Wagner’s farm when a grass fire threatened the farm buildings.
Victor J. Hessentine was elected as Worshipful Master at the Masonic meeting.
Tamera Ann McGuire and Mark Erwin Lyon have announced their engagement.

The South Side Café, dining room and recreation parlor, on the south side of Main Street in Wayland, was demolished.
A double ceremony on Dec. 28, 1974 united Joan Anderson and Don J. Rinner, and also Don’s sister, Vaughn Rinner and Tim Bell, in the parental Don L. Rinner home in Des Moines.
Regina Fort and Robert Croll were united in marriage on Dec. 21, 1974.
