An exciting event is about to take place in the Fairfield community. The 2012 Fall 40 Days for Life campaign begins Wednesday, Sept. 26, and will end Sunday, Nov. 4.
40 Days for Life is 40 days of prayer, fasting, and community outreach to end abortion.
The first organized campaign began in 2007, and through the power of prayer and fasting, continues to experience many blessings. Caring people have reached out with love and compassion to women who are entering abortion facilities to end the lives of their unborn children, and by informing these women they TRULY have a choice, 5,928 lives of unborn children have been saved.
Thankfully, Fairfield doesn?t have a Planned Parenthood or other abortion-performing facility, but we know that adding our prayers to those who stand in front of these facilities these 40 Days, will have powerful results. If you want to pray in front of the Emma Goldman abortion facility in Iowa City, go to http://vigilcalendar.com/iowacity/login/login_page or call 319-325-4026.
We are asking everyone to pray and fast these 40 Days and want to invite the public to special events that will be taking place. The kick-off event will be held Sept. 26 at Immanuel Lutheran Church (1601 S. Main) where white crosses will be erected at 6 p.m. to memorialize those lost to abortion. This will be followed by a walking-taco supper, and Sara Lindley of Heartland Pregnancy Center of Ottumwa will tell of their free services.
Oct. 1 thru Oct. 7, St. Mary?s Catholic Church will have special events. The annual Life Chain Sunday will be Oct. 7 from 2-3 p.m. in downtown Fairfield. Oct. 8-12, the meeting room in the basement of the First National Bank will be open for silent prayer from noon to one. Oct. 14-20, special events are planned at Foursquare Church. Friends Church is hosting events Oct. 21-27, and Word of Life Lutheran Church will plan events Oct. 28-Nov. 4, closing the 40 Days with a chili lunch and a program after their morning service. From there, people will go to Immanuel Lutheran Church to take down the crosses.
Please go to www.40DaysforLife.com for more information and for daily scriptures and prayers and updates. With God?s help, we can end the heartbreak of abortion.
