A few days ago on Tuesday, Aug. 23, a 5.9 earthquake shook the east coast of our country, the largest and strongest in some 115 years, shaking and breaking the Washington and other historical monuments, government buildings which were evacuated, and closed airports. This event added to the bizarre and extreme environmental patterns; hurricanes and floods, monster tornadoes, massive wildfires, widespread drought, prolonged and excessive heat as we are experiencing in Iowa. Now Hurricane Irene is threatening the whole east coast as it gains strength and direction to possibly impact New England as evacuations are taking place. It leaves one to wonder if anything is amiss.
In Deuteronomy 28:15 to 69 in the Old Testament of the Bible, is told of the curses, ?to smite people and their descendants and nations with severe and constant blows, malignant and lasting maladies because of their disobedience.? Of these, the killing of the innocent, the fruit of the womb. But in verses 1 to 14 is told the great blessings that are given to peoples and nations who obey God?s commandants. It is worth reading and studying for ones self.
There is hope in prayer and devotions, fasting, faith, and conversion which are being asked in order to put God No. 1 in our lives.
Fairfield will again take part in the 40 Days for Life Campaign from Sept. 28 to Nov. 6, as one of over 315 cities and nations of the world to educate and inspire people to change sides for life.
Also the International Week of Prayer and Fasting from Oct. 1-9.
Let us pray for peace, true peace for all peoples and nations of the world!
