Bicycle enforcement needed once again
To the editor:
Ah, Summer!!! The scent of geraniums and petunias! The sight of corn and beans growing in the field! The smell of suntan lotion! Outdoor grilling!! Warm breezes and temperatures!!!
And the sad fact that we have to look up and down the sidewalk as we exit a store on the Square or else we are run over by...yes...that Summer Demon once again: The Bicyclist!!! You know the ones I mean...the Ones ...

You know the ones I mean...the Ones who blithely ride on the sidewalks without any concern for a pedestrian! The Ones who fly through a stop sign or stoplight with no regard for traffic laws. The Ones who zip out of a one-way alley the wrong way...the Ones who ride their bikes the wrong way on a one-way street...shall I continue, or do you know what I mean??!!
Last year there was a wonderful sting operation put into effect, until some Ones whined and cried to the Mayor and the Other Powers that Be to stop picking on them. Well, Mr. Mayor, I implore you and the Fairfield Police Department and the Powers that Be to enforce those laws yet again, before something sadly and regretfully tragic happens ? and you know it will if this disregard for traffic and bicycle safety continues.
