Jefferson County ISU Extension and Outreach is sponsoring a bike safety course next week at Pence Elementary School.
The class, Biking 101, will last from noon to 1:30 p.m. for three days that week, Monday through Wednesday. Youth will learn bike safety, rules of the road and simple bike repairs. The class will end with a family bike/walk celebration from 9-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, location to be determined.
Biking 101 is being done in conjunction with Fairfield Summer School, but it's open to any youth in grades K-4. There is no transportation provided after the program. Children do not need to bring a bike to participate.
Registration is free and open to the first 25 youth who sign up. The deadline is Friday. Children can register at the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Office at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, or email County Youth Coordinator Ashtin Walker at ashtinw@iastate.edu. For more information, call the extension office at 472-4166.
