Parents: Richard N. Curtis and Danielle Curtis.
Cumulative GPA & Class Rank: 3.994 (5 out of 112)
Activities: I have been in Varsity Choir (Vox) and Jazz X (jazz choir) since 10th grade, and am the Baritone Section Leader of Vox. I’ve tried out for All-State for 3 years, and made it in this year. I’ve also been in a myriad of sports, like soccer (9th-11th grade), wrestling (9th-10th grade), and football (9th grade). I was a varsity player in high school soccer, and was awarded the JV Player of the Year award in 9th grade, and the 110% award in both 10th and 11th grade. I've also been in theatre for the entirety of my high school career, as well as participating in improvisation and musical theatre. I'm in National Honor Society.
Other clubs/organizations outside of school: I am in my church's Stake Youth Council, which is where I help plan activities for the Youth.
Future plans: I plan on going into the University of Iowa and majoring in Microbiology. However, since I don't yet fully know what career I want, my major is up for change. I do enjoy the sciences, so I plan on having a science-related career.
How will your high school experiences help you in coming years? My theater experience will help me to be more outgoing and confident when I am under pressure and not sure of myself. My sports and choir experiences will also help me to improve upon myself and stay content and happy with myself.
Fondest memory of high school? Junior year is probably my most favorite year, as I made a lot of friends and had many classes that I enjoyed, and I also had a nice relationship during that time.
Which teachers have had the biggest impact on you and why? Mr. Hucke, Mrs. Higgins, and Mr. Clausen had the biggest impacts on me because they were passionate with what they taught, and were always willing to help me out when I had questions.
Who is your role model and how did they influence you? My mom and dad because of how hard-working they both are, and how they have persevered through many different hard times together. They've been loving and kind to me while stressed and under pressure, and I respect that.
What is special about your high school? It has allowed me to be in many different kinds of extracurriculars, which I would not have been able to do if I were in a bigger school.
If you go back to when you were a freshman, what advice would you give yourself? I would tell myself that it would all work out eventually, and to start essays and long projects at least a week before they are due!
