The 4-H programs in Jefferson, Washington, Henry, Lee, Louisa and Des Moines counties are planning a STEM trip March 13 to Ames.
All youth in sixth- through eighth-grades, including non-4-H members, are invited to learn more about sports medicine at Iowa State University.
Throughout the day, participants will be able to visit the ISU Athletic Training facilities, shop at the ISU Bookstore and dive into hands-on activities with the ISU Kinesiology department faculty and students. They will end their day with swimming at the State Gym on campus.
Transportation to and from Ames will be provided. Approximate leave time is 7 a.m., with a return time of approximately 7:30 p.m.
Preregistration and the $30 fee is due to the Jefferson County ISU Extension Office by March 1.
The $30 fee covers swimming costs, transportation, lunch and insurance. Additional money should be brought for fast food supper and shopping at the bookstore.
A registration form is available at https://www.extension.iastate.edu/jefferson. Limited space is available. Parents and guardians are welcome to serve as chaperones for the trip with expectation of passing a background screen.
For more information about the regional STEM trip, Jefferson County 4-H or how to volunteer with the program as an adult, contact the Extension office at 472-4166.
