Fondest memory of high school? My favorite high school memory was going to Speech All-State with my ensemble acting and overheating in the hotel hot tub.
Which teachers have had the biggest impact on you and why? Mrs. Marble, my 6th and 7th grade teacher, for making us write an essay every day. I hated it back then, but it taught me how to write with power and persuasion. My sophomore year business teacher for making me realize how much I didn’t want to be a business major. And Mrs. Higgins for making math fun.
Who is your role model and how did they influence you? The governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, is my role model. For the past two terms, she has held the office with power and humility. She communicates and listens to the people of Michigan and passes bipartisan bills that actually help the people of Michigan. In addition, she is not afraid to tell her story or be vulnerable to the people she serves. Her leadership is something I aspire to obtain and live up to.
What is special about your high school? The support staff. They work so hard to make sure students get the resources they need. All of them do an amazing job and the students of Fairfield High School, especially myself, would be so lost without them.
If you go back to when you were a freshman, what advice would you give yourself? Learn to say “No!” You don’t have to be involved in everything. Choose quality over quantity.
