A trip of a lifetime became a 40th Wedding Anniversary gift. Fairfield residents David and Pamela Fishel prayed for 30 years, saved for 10 years, and sacrificed a truck and satellite TV to fulfill a dream of visiting Israel.
They were to fly out on March 18, 2020, but COVID-19 shut the world down on March 15th. The trip was rescheduled three times and finally canceled. Then, Israel opened their doors to tourism and it was reinstated.
After two COVID tests, the Fishels toured the country for 10 days with a group from Faith Christian Outreach Church, Mt. Pleasant. It was the highlight of their 40-year marriage!
David and Pamela married on August 28, 1982, at the Fairfield Foursquare Church with Rev. Paul Griffis and Rev. Donald Hickman officiating. Their children and grandchildren are Luke, Bethany, & Olivia Fishel (Packwood); Laura Fishel (Birmingham); and Derek, Rachel, and Gideon Fishel (Fairfield).
David is employed by Keosauqua Lumber in Fairfield. Pamela writes about money at www.frugalfish.org. She also designs a yearly Bible reading guide to read the chapters about Easter during Holy Week and the chapters about Jesus' birth starting on Christmas Eve. She writes from the assigned chapters at www.thisyearsbiblereadingguide.com. She is sharing pictures and anecdotes from their tour of Israel on both sites and is working on a book.
