Deb Johnson first to discover museum compote
Aug. 17, 2022 2:48 pm
Fairfield resident Deb Johnson became the first person to discover a compote hidden on the Fairfield Loop Trail last week.
The compote was hidden as part of the Carnegie Historical Museum’s treasure hunt.
According to the museum’s Facebook page, when Johnson was asked about her search, she said, “I had been looking for the compotes for weeks and just got lucky! My thought was to just keep in mind that I was looking for something that seemed out of place."
Johnson said she searched for at least 10 hours.
The Carnegie Treasure Hunt tag attached to the compote records that it was hidden in July, which means the compotes hidden in May, June and August are still out there to be found.
Once a month, museum board members will hide a glass compote somewhere along the loop trail. Those who find the compotes should return them to the museum, where they will have their photo taken and be signed up for the museum’s compote party, where the compotes will be filled with ice cream and goodies.
