Extension to host Wellbeing Lunch and Learn
Mar. 15, 2023 10:11 am
Wellbeing isn’t something to achieve and check off a bucket list. Instead, it’s an ongoing journey that varies with each person. Iowans can find their own way in a program from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach – Jefferson County.
“What About Me? My Wellbeing” is a five-week educational lunch and learn series beginning April 5 in Fairfield. The introductory, research-based program covers taking time for oneself, relationships, finances and physical health. Each workshop is 60 minutes and begins at Noon at the Jefferson County Extension Office on the fairgrounds in Fairfield. The remaining workshops are set for the next four Wednesdays- April 12, 19, and 26 and May 3. A free lunch will be provided each week.
To register for the program go to https://go.iastate.edu/9TY6TV or call the Jefferson County Extension Office at 641-472-4166.
“Wellbeing is not an end, it’s a journey. Your needs will fluctuate depending on where you are in your life. This program can be applied at any point,” said Hailey Burgher, a human sciences specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach.
“It’s all about taking time out of your busy schedule to reflect on the lifestyle choices you’re making to meet your own goals for your relationships and your financial and physical health. This is not about us telling you what you should be doing. It’s about you figuring out what you should be doing based on your own individual goals,” Burgher said.
“You’re going to learn some new information, but what’s more important is that the program allows you to take time to focus on you,” added Courtney Burkhalter, Program Coordinator
“After completing the program, you’ll have the tools to keep working on your own wellbeing,” Burkhalter said.
