Fairfield bands to perform holiday concert Sunday

The Fairfield Municipal Band and the Fairfield All-Star Jazz Band will present a holiday concert Sunday, Dec. 19 at 3 p.m. in the Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.

The concert is free to the public, but free will donations will be accepted at the door. All donations will go to the arts center to cover rehearsal and performance expenses for the two groups.

The Fairfield All-Star Jazz Band will start the program and play nine holiday songs in jazz, Latin, and rock styles. The band will feature Emily McIntyre singing “Santa Baby” with the jazz group.

The Fairfield Municipal Band will play the second half of the concert. Songs such as “The Holly And The Ivy,” “Christmas Carillon,” and “Fanfare Prelude On Joy To The World” will be performed, along with other holiday standards and medleys. Songs from famous composers such as Irving Berlin, Leroy Anderson, and Gene Autry.

All of the band members of both groups are from Fairfield, Jefferson County and surrounding counties.
