Fairfield Elks plant trees in Lamson Woods
Oct. 18, 2023 11:14 am, Updated: Oct. 18, 2023 12:54 pm
Fairfield Elks purchased and planted trees in Lamson Woods State Preserve on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
The Elks planted the trees in response to Fairfield city parks having lost dozens of trees due to age and the Emerald Ash Borer infestation. The tree planting is an annual Elks Community Investment Project for the community's parks and trail system.
The Elks would like to recognize Oakwood Nursery and the Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department for their expertise and support in this annual project.
This project was made possible by a grant from the Elks National Foundation, the charitable arm of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Through its Community Investments Program, the Elks National Foundation awards grants to local Elks Lodges to help the Elks strengthen their communities. This year, the Elks National Foundation will award $6.5 million in grants to benefit Elks communities.
