Fairfield High School holds NHS induction ceremony

The annual induction ceremony for the Fairfield High School chapter of the National

Honor Society was held Monday, December 5, 2022, at 7:30 P.M. in the high school

auditorium. Highlights of the ceremony included the student-created speeches which

highlighted the qualifications of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. The

ceremony included a vocal performance by NHS members of the Vox choir.

21 members were then inducted during the traditional candle-lighting ceremony. The

new inductees performed the oath and were sworn in as the newest members of the

National Honor Society. After the ceremony, parents and friends greeted all members

during a reception in the high school commons.

Current senior members are: Katelyn Adam, Giteeka Adhikari, Jacob Carlson, Erin

Epperson, Makenzie Kraemer, Sara Kretz, Alison Megrath, Kate Pettit, Macy Rayburn,

Maggie Rayburn, Emily Simpson, Drew Twohill and Max Weaton.

Newly inducted seniors are: Mikeal Anderson, Aspen Heckethorn, Ryan Higgins, Nicole

Robb, Adrian Scotton, Elizabeth Snelling, Andrew Titze and Bradley Warnell

Newly inducted juniors are: Caden Allison, Malena Bloomquist, Benett Boatright, David

Creer, Richard Brock Curtis, Connor Hawkins, Maya Lane, Shreya Mallick, Evie Messer,

Carson Rubey, Carley Seeley, Briana Steele and Sam Weaton.

To become members of NHS, students must be juniors or seniors with a 3.3 or higher

cumulative grade point average. Students then complete a form, listing their activities,

leadership roles, and service completed. All teachers are invited to nominate students

for membership. Finally, a small committee of teachers chooses the members to be

inducted, based on their nominations and completed forms.

The National Honor Society was established in 1921. Its purpose is to recognize

outstanding high school students in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and

character. It is sponsored and supervised by the National Association of Secondary

School Principals. Local sponsor is Mr. Jake Engle.
