Twenty-one students from Fairfield High School were inducted as new members of the National Honor Society in a ceremony held at the school Monday, Dec. 4. Members were selected by the chapter’s faculty council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Seniors inducted were: Chloe Frescoln, Imanuel Ftwi, Ethan Hsia, Maddie Jones, Nathaniel Konczal and Cooper Polonsky.
Juniors inducted were: Dylan Adam, Harmony Bailey, Lillian Bergren, Una Carter, Ella Holderbaum, Lucas Konczal, Cassidy Mallinger, Cason Miller, Josh Mineart, Laney Norris, Riley Perkins, Dre Smithburg, Haleigh Strickland, Gabe Tejada, and Emma Wendland.
To Become members of NHS, students must be juniors or seniors with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade point average. Students then complete a form, listing their activities, leadership roles, and volunteer service hours completed. All teachers are invited to nominate students for membership.
Finally, a small committee of teachers chooses the members to be inducted, based on their nominations and completed applications.
During the ceremony, chapter adviser Jake Engle noted the average GPA for the chapter is 3.91 and as a group the students have served over 1000 community service hours.
The new members join last year’s inductees: Caden Allison, Malena Bloomquist, Benett Boatright, David Creer, Brock Curtis, Connor Hawkins, Maya Lane, Shreya Mallick, Evie Messer, Carson Rubey, Carley Seeley, Briana Steele, and Sam Weaton.
The National Honor Society was established in 1921. Its purpose is to recognize outstanding high school students in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
