Fairfield Public Library is thrilled to announce that starting this month, the Library will once again be offering digital access to Kanopy, a popular, on-demand streaming video platform.
Kanopy was previously available to borrowers in 2021 but services were suspended due to a shortage of funding. However, due to a generous grant from the Fairfield Public Library Foundation, funding has been secured of the next year. Kanopy service provides our community access to a vast array of films, TV shows, educational videos, and documentaries, all free of charge for our library card holders.
Kanopy's extensive collection includes thought-provoking documentaries, classic cinema, and engaging educational videos, ensuring there is something for everyone. One of the standout features is Kanopy Kids, which offers thousands of age-appropriate and educational titles, making it an excellent resource for families and educators alike.
Each resident of Jefferson County with a valid library card will receive 18 credits per month to use on the platform. Most films require two credits to watch, while more comprehensive educational programs, such as the Great Courses series, require five credits. However, accessing Kanopy Kids requires only one credit for an entire month of unlimited viewing, making it an exceptional value for families.
Library workers at FPL believe that Kanopy will enrich the cultural and educational experiences of our community members, providing them with easy access to high-quality content. All Jefferson County residents are encouraged to take advantage of this wonderful service. To get started, create an account in the free app or in your browser or stop by the library for more information. Happy streaming!
