To celebrate National Poetry Month, a poetry reading will be held at the Fairfield Public Library on Friday, April 12 at 8 p.m.
Light refreshments will be served. The poets include Rustin Larson, whose writing appears in the anthologies Wild Gods (New Rivers Press, 2021) and Wapsipinicon Almanac: Selections from Thirty Years (University of Iowa Press, 2023). His poems have also appeared in The New Yorker, The Iowa Review, Puerto Del Sol, The Penn Review, North American Review, and Poetry East.
Bill Graeser, a delightful performance poet, has been published in North American Review, TelePoem Booth, Lyrical Iowa, and Long Island Quarterly. He is also the winner of Iowa Poetry Association's 2012 Norman Thomas Memorial Award and the author of Fire in a Nutshell and Rushing is a Waste of Time.
Our third poet, Glenn Watt, is originally from Wyoming and has been writing poetry since the late 1970s. Watt’s evocative poems bring to life the adventurous spirit of, among other things, several decades of walking and birding the Chariton, Des Moines, and Iowa river ecosystems of southeastern Iowa, which he gathered in his chapbook, Walking the Refuge. He is grateful to his wife for her extensive perennial garden, to the wildlands of Iowa, and to all those who strive to maintain these rich habitats.
