Fairfield library’s children collection receives donation
Feb. 2, 2023 2:00 pm
The children’s collection at Fairfield Public library has grown thanks to a generous gift from Margaret Kelly.
Children’s Services Specialist Sara Martindale is happy to have more than 50 new VOX books in the picture book area of the children’s department. Vox books are hard cover books with an electronic reader attached to the cover of the books.
Using simple intuitive buttons, children can listen to a recording of the book. Some books are even read by the author. The readers can listen to the recording through the speaker on the book or by plugging in their own headphones.
“This is a great way for early readers to read independently without the use of screens or devices,” Martindale said.
Martindale will add more to the collection if these are popular among patrons. You can find these books in the picture book bins across from the Easy Readers in the Children’s Department.
