Fairfield Municipal Band to begin summer concert series

The Fairfield Municipal Band will begin its summer series of concerts on the Ron Prill Bandstand in Central Park at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20.

The five other concerts will be held on all Tuesdays, June 27, July 11, July 18, July 25 and Aug. 1. All concerts will be in Central Park and begin at 8 p.m.

The Fairfield Municipal Band is sponsored by the Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department. The group is made up of instrumentalists from Fairfield and surrounding communities. The band performs a variety of music, from traditional concert marches and military songs to modern arrangements of current Broadway, movie, and popular hits.

The band began playing its summer series in 1987 when the 34th Army National Guard Band was no longer able to play a summer series. This summer, the band will celebrate 36 years of providing summer concerts to the community.
