The Fairfield Community School District has selected Jerrod Belzer as the next head coach of the Fairfield High School girls’ basketball team, pending board approval.
Over the past 17 years, Belzer has served as a middle school physical education teacher within the district. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he currently serves as head coach of the high school girls’ and boys’ cross country teams, the girls’ track team, and oversees the summer athletic performance program. Belzer also has nine years of experience as an assistant basketball coach at the middle school and high school levels.
“I would like to thank Mr. Jeff Courtright, the administration team, and school board for the opportunity to serve as the head girls’ basketball coach,” said Belzer. “I am excited to get to work with the coaches and athletes in this program. I know that great things are ahead of us. Go Trojans!”
Belzer’s coaching philosophy emphasizes student potential, hard work, and a commitment to excellence, making him an ideal choice to lead Fairfield’s girls’ basketball program. His proven track record in fostering strong relationships and encouraging student-athletes to strive for their best efforts is expected to build on the program's tradition of success.
“We are extremely confident that under Mr. Belzer’s guidance, our student-athletes will develop a strong work ethic while representing Fairfield in a first-class manner,” said FCSD Activities Director Jeff Courtright. “His dedication to student development and his passion for the sport make him the perfect fit for this role, and we look forward to witnessing the team thrive under his leadership.”
Belzer and his wife, Courtney, who works for Cambridge Investment Research, reside in Libertyville. Their daughter, Bailey, will be starting her junior year at FHS this fall.
The Fairfield Community School District is confident that under Mr. Belzer’s leadership, the girls basketball team will continue to excel and represent the school with distinction.
