Fairfield, Pekin students attend scholarship workshop
Dec. 13, 2021 3:43 pm
A scholarship workshop was held Sunday, Dec. 12 and was well attended by both Fairfield and Pekin high school students.
The Scholarship Committee of The Greater Jefferson County Foundation in partnership with Jefferson County Extension hosted the event to educate those attending on the proper way to complete a scholarship application. In addition, the Foundation’s scholarship website was reviewed.
Former FHS student and ISU graduate Jenna Crile was the guest speaker. She offered insight into the importance of organizational planning and attending classes and getting to know the professors. Jenna, who graduated with a major in accounting and a minor in political science, is now studying general law and stressed the importance of college scholarships to minimize the debt load a student can incur when college ends.
The Foundation’s scholarship period began Dec. 1 and ends Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. The website for online applications is www.gjcfscholarships.org. Other local applications are available through the FHS guidance counselor’s office.
For more information or any questions, contact the Foundation’s office at 641-472-0758 or by email at gjcf0758@windstream.net
