Seniors often are targets of scams. Some have been bilked of thousands of dollars, believing that they were protecting their savings. How do we prevent being lured into these?
AARP—American Association of Retired Persons—offers a virtual program explaining what to do. John Miller, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program coordinator, will be showing this on Thursday, May 1st , at 10 a.m., at the Fairfield Community Center, 209 South Court Street, in Fairfield.
About the Fraud Watch Presentation: The AARP Fraud Watch Network is working to empower you in the fight, with proven resources and tools to help you spot and avoid frauds and scams. During the session, they will share an inside look at how scammers think, how to safeguard against identity theft and fraud, first-hand accounts from victims, and what to do if you or someone you know has been a victim.
If this interests anyone, just contact the RSVP office at 641-919-4242 or email j.miller@wapellocouw.org. Depending on questions, it should be done in under 90 minutes. There is no fee.
