Flaming Marshmallows compete at Iowa Special Olympics

The Southeast Iowa Flaming Marshmallows Special Olympics Team is back from the Iowa Special Olympics Summer Games after competing in Soccer Skills, Mini Javelin, Shot Put and Track bringing home 12 gold, 6 silver, 2 bronze and 4 other places.
Eleven athletes qualified for State Summer Games and this is the first year that the 'Mallows, as they are affectionately called by fans, also sent up a 4x100M Relay Team "The Mighty 'Mallows". Cannon Putnam, Cordell Spurgeon, Patrick Jones and RJ Hawkins finished 4th in this event.
The 'Mallows are currently taking a week off to recoup and then will start practice for Softball & Football Skills followed by Bowling in the Fall. For more information on how you can become a 'Mallow, please contact Janel Orgovanyi, Delegation Manager at 641-233-8295.
The SEIA Flaming Marshmallows have athletes from Davis, Henry, Jefferson, Wapello, Washington and Van Buren counties and are open for athletes from 8-100 with practice held in Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant.
