One year ago, Staff Sgt. Andrew Bowers was reassigned to an Iowa Army National Guard unit from Council Bluffs, and was deployed overseas where he has spent the last year in the remote mountains of Southern Afghanistan. He left his job at Cambridge, his family and his wife and little girl to fulfill his commitment to our great nation. Thankfully, he is back in the USA undergoing his demobilization at Ft. McCoy, Wis., and will return with his unit to Council Bluffs this Friday to be reunited with his family! As his parents, we would like to thank his associates at Cambridge for their support and encouragement for him while he was away, and thank our friends, coworkers at Hy-Vee and our church family at First Baptist Church for all their prayers, encouragement and support during this past 12 months. It meant more to us than you will know. Andy should return to his home in Fairfield this Friday evening or Saturday and it would be great to see American flags flying from every porch and business in Fairfield to welcome him home and say thanks for you service to our country! Thanks.
