Foreign affairs roundtable to meet Jan. 27
Jan. 17, 2022 2:32 pm
Do you enjoy connecting with others about international relations? Consider engaging in lively Foreign Affairs Roundtables. On Thursday, Jan. 27 from 1:30-3:30 p.m., participants will gather in Fairfield Public Library’s meeting room, or attend remotely via Zoom. Two Foreign Affairs Magazine articles are featured this month:
1. America’s Cyber-Reckoning, a 9-page article by Sue Gordon and Eric Rosenbach. Sue Godron is a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Eric Rosenbach is Co-Director of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
2. The Case for Cyber-Realism by Dmitri Alperovitch. Alperovitch is Co-Founder and Chair of Silverado Policy Accelerator and Co-Founder and former Chief Technolgy Officer of the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike.
Local participants sent these comments: “I appreciate the chance to have in-depth discussions about important topics.” “The articles are relevant, well researched and well written.” “John leads the discussions without having a political axe to grind. He honors all views.”
Each month, the articles provide background about a current international relations issue affecting American foreign policy. Discussion is moderated by John Beghtol, Iowa’s former history teacher-of-the-year and a member of the Academy of Political Science.
To ensure that everyone can be heard, group size is limited to 10. Register for this free session and receive a complimentary copy of the articles. The library can accommodate in-person attendance for up to 6 people in the Meeting Room, and will host the event via Zoom for those who prefer to attend remotely. Call the library’s front desk to register: 641-472-6551 ext. 2.
