The legacy of Edd and Darlene Felgar continues on with the distribution of their estate from the office of John Morrissey, their attorney along with Executor, Renee Rebling. The Greater Jefferson County Foundation has been working directly with the Jefferson County Fair Board and the focus of the fair board is to look to the possibility of constructing a one-half mile dirt track for racing possibly at the southwest corner of the fairgrounds.
The Felgar’s had a deep interest in dirt track racing and would drive to events in southeast Iowa to be in attendance at these events. It is their vision that Fairfield/Jefferson County should have such a facility for our local audience to be able to participate directly in this type of event.
Other local distributions will be going to The Fairfield Park & Recreation Foundation to be used for new park shelters. Scholarships are being formulated for the benefit of Fairfield High School students.
The Felgar’s were able to use the Greater Jefferson County Foundation as a repository for their estate so the funds could be invested and grow until the time the funds were ready for distribution to the local entities named in their estate planning.
Edd told Mr. Morrissey that “people need more things to do in our community” and their plan would further enhance those opportunities.
The Greater Jefferson County Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 organization, which was established in 1975 for the benefit of Jefferson County Iowa.
