Greater Jefferson County Foundation awards $150,000 in scholarships, $250,000 in grants
Sep. 7, 2022 2:29 pm
The Greater Jefferson County Foundation was founded in 1975 as a spin off from the Annual Parsons College Fund efforts by a group of leaders in the Fairfield and Jefferson County area.
The direction of the grants is primarily to go to the non-profit organization of Fairfield and Jefferson County for capital improvements. In the past few years, there has been a movement to have some of the funding go toward some operational expenses.
Scholarship distribution continues to gain momentum. In 2022 total scholarships were $150,000. The grant total was at the $250,000 level. Each year the Foundation will receive approximately 40 grant applications and funded grants usually number 25-35 per year. It has been through the generosity of our community members and grants from the Greater Des Moines Community Foundation, that these funds continue to grow and more non-profit organizations can better realize their goals. Your continuing support is critical.
Thanks to those who have donated in the past and we would encourage those forward-thinking residents to consider an annual donation to the Greater Jefferson County Foundation. We are an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, which benefits from gambling funds.
Contact information for the foundation is The Greater Jefferson County Foundation at P O Box 1325, Fairfield, Iowa or by e-mail at gjcf0758@windstream.net or by phone at 641-472-0758.
