Members of the Greater Jefferson County Foundation Board of Directors hosted the Annual Scholarship Appreciation Dinner at the Fairfield Community Center on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
Students and their families were invited to attend, and Scholarship Chairwoman Peggy Mottet emceed the event. Students were asked to speak briefly about their college/university/trade school choice and their career area of study. In addition, one 2023 FHS graduate, Nicole Robb, offered “words of wisdom” to the graduating seniors regarding college freshman life in the dorm, attending classes, cafeteria food, and other essential advice.
Donors attending the event were, Susan Shafer (The Mark Shafer Art Scholarship), Loretta Diers (The Andrew & Dorothy Pohren Crile Memorial Scholarship), Dave Neff (The Nellie Neff Scholarship), and the Jefferson County Pork Producers (JCPP Scholarship) who also catered the event.
The Greater Jefferson County Foundation began in 1975, with its first scholarship created in 1988 with a donation of $20,000.00. In 2024, over $150,000.00 in scholarships were awarded.
