How coincidental. The day I received my tax bill from Jefferson County is the same day The Ledger reported that The Jefferson County Health Center had a net income of 2.3 million dollars last year.
I need someone to explain why the residents of Jefferson County were taxed over 1.2 million dollars designated for the hospital, when the hospital had a 2.3 million dollar net income. I believe the hospital, as a non-profit, should have a small ?rainy day fund? but to have 2.3 million dollars in their coffer is outrageous. What?s even more outrageous is that almost half of that 2.3 million bloat is taxpayer?s money. The rest of the income is excessive rates being billed to the insurance company. As a result of this improper billing rate, everyone?s insurance rates also increase.
Personally, I want my money back. Jefferson County Hospital, return your profit to us taxpayers. Jefferson County Supervisors ? stop taxing us for this profit-making organization.
