Washington Elementary School fourth-grader Austin Adkison, center, grimaces as he tries to adjust and buckle his new bicyle helmet. Representatives of the Jefferson County Wellness Coalition are visiting all fourth-grade classrooms to distribute the free helmets and discuss bicycle safety. Ken Daley, executive director of the coalition, said it is the coalition?s hope the distribution of helmets and safety talks with fourth graders becomes an annual event, pending funding, so over the years, everyone will have a helmet.
