Jefferson County Cattlemen donate $1,000 of canned beef to The Lord’s Cupboard
The Jefferson County Cattlemen’s Association recognizes the important role that beef plays in a healthy diet. For instance, a single three-ounce serving of lean beef provides 10 essential nutrients and 25 grams of protein. The organization said that, while protein is an essential nutrient in developing strong bodies, food insecure families have limited access to it.
That’s why the cattlemen’s association donated $1,000 in canned beef from Ulrich’s Meat Market (Pella, Iowa) to The Lord’s Cupboard food pantry in Fairfield. The group said canned meat products are easier for families to store and for young children to enjoy since most products can be warmed up in a microwave.
