Jefferson County Extension hosts wrapping party
Dec. 8, 2021 1:55 pm
Members of the Jefferson County 4-H Youth Committee joined forces Thursday evening, Dec. 2, to wrap Christmas gifts as a fundraiser for the 4-H program in Jefferson County.
Another “wrapping party” is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cambridge Building in the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Fairfield. The service is free, but a free-will donation to benefit Jefferson County 4-H is appreciated.
Those committee members attending were Kandi Diers, Melissa and Piper Miller, Samantha Haney, Barbara Kistler and Hilary Lanman, 4-H County Youth Coordinator.
Clients dropped off their unwrapped Christmas packages and the Committee Elves wrapped the gifts in festive paper and ribbons to be placed under the tree at home. Each package was labeled with the name of the recipient and gift tags titled “Wrapped with Care by Jefferson County 4-H” are available for the client to complete.
4-H is an inclusive community youth organization. In 4-H programs, kids and teens complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and civic engagement in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles.
For more information on joining 4-H or becoming a volunteer, contact the Jefferson County Extension office at 641-472-4166, or by emailing jcrile@iastate.edu.
