Jefferson County Extension to host Trunk or Treat Friday

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach for Jefferson County invites all families with youth 12 and under to attend this year’s Trunk or Treat event. This free event will be held on Friday, Oct. 27 from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Fairfield.

When you arrive at the fairgrounds, please enter through the main entrance and park in the parking lot used for fair. There will be signs with directions posted. We ask that all families walk to the open gate, south of the hog barn, where you will see the red Extension tent. There each youth will be given a bag to collect candy, as well as a map and ticket. Instead of forming a line this year, families are able to move through the grounds at their own pace, visiting each area as they like.

Over 30 businesses and organizations have signed up for a trunk or table space this year to hand out candy and goodies. In addition to visiting each of their spaces, youth and families are also able to play games, have photos taken, get free popcorn, decorate pumpkins, participate in karaoke, and take a tractor and wagon ride. A professional photographer will be available to take photos for $10 if you wish. The 4-H Youth Committee also will be selling hot dogs, chips, and bottled water for $5. Please note that cash or checks will be needed for these.
