Jefferson County Farm Bureau hosts Grocery Grab

This year for National Ag Week, Jefferson County Farm Bureau hosted its first Grocery Grab.

The Grocery Grab was a race between local Jefferson County businesses who had to grocery shop for items to donate to the local food pantry. The rules were whoever was able to spend the closest to $100 without going over or under without being able to use any sort of calculator was determined the winner.

The teams also had a list of groceries or household items to go off from and could have at least two team members.

We had the following four businesses participate this year: John Deere Sinclair, Vision Ag, Nutrien, and Farm Bureau Financial Services. Our winner this year was John Deere by spending the closet amount to $100.

Altogether, we were able to donate a little over 200 pounds of food and household items to the Lord’s Cupboard and then Jefferson County Farm Bureau matched that amount with a monetary donation. We want to thank Hy-Vee for allowing us to race throughout their store and we look forward to doing this again next year!
