Kids play on giant pumpkins
Children hop from one giant pumpkin to another in Frank Wintroub’s backyard in Fairfield. Wintroub said he started growing giant pumpkins about five years ago, and today has some that get over 400 pounds, with his biggest coming in at 600 pounds. “In the world of giant pumpkins, these don’t even register,” he said, noting that the state record for biggest pumpkin was broken this year, and that the record is held by Pete Caspers of Peosta, Iowa, who grew a pumpkin that weighed 2,424 pounds.
