World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is June 15th. The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) recently released a report of elder financial exploitation that showed over 155,000 suspicious activity reports filed related to elder abuse in the last year. These reports alone showed $27 billion in suspicious activity.
The American Bankers Association (ABA), IBA and Iowa banks are focused on fraud education to protect customers of all ages. Note, these are reported. The numbers do not include non-reported events, of which we hear of every single day at Libertyville Savings Bank.
Libertyville Savings Bank will hold an informal open house to chat about what to watch for when it comes to fraudulent calls, texts, emails, etc. Come chat with us, ask questions, learn much and enjoy an afternoon treat. The event is free.
The open house is Thursday, June 13 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Fairfield Community Center. Everyone is welcome.
